XBFL Hall of Fame
The XBFL Hall of Fame acknowledges records earned by members who have participated in past seasons of the XBFL. The records below are representative of those who honored the code of sim-gaming and did not attempt to exploit any glitches or flaws present in the games utilized for past seasons. For sake of consistency, both 2K Football and Madden Football are recorded separately, and are not to be compared. The XBFL began usage of NFL 2K football in the summer of 2002, and Madden in summer of 2006. 2K Sports' All-Pro Football statistics are not part of the NFL 2K record book due to the distinctive differences with "realism" between each title. Because of this, APFB2K8 statistics have been recorded and catalogued separately. Please note that the records listed below pertain to leagues that contained a full 32-player roster (with exception to specific single-game stats involving player vs. player competition).

NFL 2K Notes:
2K Sports' NFL games were clearly helmets and shoulder pads above rival Madden during the early part of the decade. 2K featured improved player models, a better physics engine and gameplay that was revolutionary when compared to the competition. Furthermore, with NFL 2K5, it was the first football game to offer online league functionality. NFL 2K3 was the cornerstone from which The XBFL was built, and it was disappointing to see NFL 2K5 as the last game in what was turning out to be a top tier franchise.
Primetime88 was clearly the pass-happy gamer as he dominates nearly every passing statistic related to yardage in the XFBL's 2K record books, favoring deep passes to Randy Moss regularly throughout his games. Dr Archer was a close competitor with regard to the deep ball as evident by Marvin Harrison's unbelievable accomplishment of 3,000+ receiving yards in a single season. Both Moss and Harrison were clearly the elite receivers of NFL 2K3. Stuman was the most efficient passer owning both passer rating and completion percentage records.
While there were many dominant runners over the course of the first seven seasons of the XBFL, Emmitt Smith made the biggest splash in 2003 by nearly topping the 3,000 yard plateau at the hands of Mr Fett. The Cowboys were one of the weaker teams in 2003, and with a remarkable 8.6 yards per carry average (an NFL 2K league record), the burden of success clearly fell on the shoulders of Smith. Unfortunately, Emmitt's accomplishment was the only highlight of the Cowboys' otherwise dismal season that year as they failed to make the playoffs. The only challenge to Emmitt's yardage record came from Tampa Bay Buccaneer Mike Alstott in season 3, who on paper eclipsed Smith's rushing total, though it was discovered by a few league members that the Bucs' coach at the time was implementing a little known trick to enhance Alstott's break tackle ability, thus giving him an unfair advantage over defenders. It was the NFL's equivalent to steroids (or similar to using a turbo button in other games), and several members viewed this as "cheesy" gaming. Because tactic was largely responsible for Alstott's numbers, he did not make the Hall of Fame, and the team's overall rushing total was also ineligible for HOF placement. Additionally, this disqualified him as MVP of Season 3 when others learned that the record feat was tainted (as was the championship that came with it). A few seasons later, Emmitt's YPC record was nearly equalled by Clinton Portis (NFL 2K5) with Lord Nelson at the helm. Portis fell short of the mark by one-tenth of a yard average, finishing Season 5 with 8.5 yards per carry.
Defensively, Kaptain Krunch consistently dominated no matter what team he coached. Even as the lowly Detroit Lions in season 2, Krunch was a force to be reckoned with. While Kaptain Krunch may not own any defensive yardage records, he owns the ones that matter most: those that pertain to turnovers and points allowed. As the Patriots in NFL 2K5, Krunch yielded a mere 107 points over the course of 16 games; that translates to just under a touchdown allowed per game! As far as teams go, Tampa Bay clearly had the best built defense in each of the three NFL 2K football games. Tampa owns the three defensive yardage-related records at the hands of two different XBFL members. The Bucs also own the team sack record with 76.5 in a single season - primarily due to the excellent pass rushing skills of defensive end Simeon Rice and defensive tackle Anthony MacFarland.
With regard to special teams play, former member NoRoundEye holds kick return records that will likely never be eclipsed in any football game; Madden or otherwise. NFL 2K4 eased up on the difficulty with running the ball as well as special teams play, and it clearly showed. At the hands of NoRoundEye, the Vikings accounted for more than half of everyone else's special teams TDs in each of the other six seasons combined! The Vikes returned 11 kicks for scores in season 4 and maintained a whopping 38.2 yard return average over the full 16 games. Several other teams had multiple kick return touchdowns in NFL 2K4, but nothing near what NoRoundEye was able to accomplish.
Kaptain Krunch's name once again surfaces when it comes to field goal kicking. He owns records for most points in a season by a kicker, most field goals in a season, and the longest successful field goal attempt at 52 yards.
All in all, good memories surround the NFL 2K franchise here at The XBFL - particularly NFL 2K5 which was arguably the best NFL experience of the decade. It's quite unfortunate that we were never able to see an NFL 2K6 which was destined to be a remarkable game - even if it was only to be a slight improvement over NFL 2K5. Many of us still wonder "what if..."

Madden Notes:
The XBFL's first Madden league took place in August of 2006. This switch to Madden wasn't in response to demand, but instead being out of necessity. 2K Sports' NFL 2K6 was cancelled due to EA Sports acquiring rights to the NFL and NFLPA which left The XBFL no choice but to adapt. At the time, the majority of XBFL members were 2K Football fanatics, and several "boycotted" EA Sports games in 2007. Despite having a successful first season with Madden (XBFL season 8), post-season survey results showed Madden 2007 receiving only average scores from members. Because of this, The XBFL opted to not support a Madden 2008 league the following year. In Madden's place, The XBFL tested and used 2K's All-Pro Football 2K8 for two seasons.
The Madden Hall of Fame here at the XBFL is clearly in its infancy, though signs point to Meaker as being the best Madden player in the league having won multiple Madden championships already (four fall championships, four winter/spring titles). That being said, LOCKNLOAD WEEZ may present an obstacle to Meaker’s continued dominance. LOCKNLOAD WEEZ won his first XBFL Championship in Season 29 and also has three winter/spring titles to go with it.

APFB 2K8 Notes:
In 2008, the XBFL returned to its roots by once again endorsing a 2K Sports football game. The first season of All-Pro Football featured an XBFL first: a live draft where once a pro player was chosen, he was removed from the player pool (i.e. a "closed draft"). Because there were more teams than default pro-players, an option to custom-create bronze level players in the likeness of their retired NFL counterparts was allowed up to a maximum of two per team. Assigned attributes to these custom bronze players had to be realistic, and approved by the league prior to the opening weekend kickoff. The first season was truly exciting, though an early season update via 2K's servers drastically changed the performance values of some players, and ultimately, the teams they were assigned to. Phillyenigma dominated throughout the season and came within 7 seconds of his undefeated streak coming to an end in the final game of the regular season. His rival, Mr Fett, scored the go-ahead touchdown with 7 seconds remaining in the game and looked to have handed Phillyenigma his first loss. However, on the ensuing kickoff, Phillyenigma's kick returner (O.J. Simpson) broke three tackles and raced down the sideline for the game winning touchdown as time expired. Phillyenigma went on to play Mr Fett in the finals and won in convincing fashion - and maintained a perfect record throughout the entire season.
The second season featured an "open draft" where members were allowed to assemble their teams without concern of what others were doing. In other words, more than one team could have Barry Sanders or Jerry Rice on their respective rosters. The season was successful, though it was apparent that the "novelty" of All-Pro Football 2K8 was wearing off fast. Relative newcomer GetinDaGetis (Pittsburgh Iron Men) narrowly defeated top-ranked Phillyenigma 22-20 in the Championship Game.
A third mini-season was formed for APFB2K8, much against the commissioner's better judgment because so many gamers were burned out on APFB, but there still appeared to be enough supporters to play out one more season, albeit an abbreviated one. To generate some interest, the league was created such that members were required to "re-create" an NFL team from the past with the same rosters used during a specific season. In other words, a member could create the 1998 Minnesota Vikings (called the Minneapolis Norsemen with in-game naming options) with the same uniform colors and similar logos, and with custom created players such as Cris Carter, Randy Moss, Robert Smith, Jake Reed, Steve Jordan, John Randle, etc. In-game pre-created pros could not be used - - every member was required to create their player from scratch so that everyone in the league had the same amount of gold, silver, and bronze attributes.
A few new recruits were added to the list of existing members at the start of the season. Once underway, the season was further shortened as interest in the league was waning, and Phillyenigma once again topped the leader board for the third straight season. The championship involved Phillyenigma versus newcomer Bleuet Alma which turned out to be a score-fest that was decided by a last second FG in regulation that gave Phillyenigma his second APFB 2K8 championship in three seasons, 45-42. This final marked the conclusion of the XBFL's endorsement of 2K's All-Pro Football game.
